I. Tichavangana
Mr Ignatius Tichivangana is a career metallurgist who started off his career as graduate trainee Metallurgist at Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC) in 1988. In 1994, he joined Anglo American Corporation – Zimbabwe Alloys Limited as a Mines Metallurgist and rose to the position of Senior Metallurgist. Mr Tichivangana re-joined ZMDC as a Group Metallurgist between 2006 and 2008. He commissioned the first diamond recovery plant for ZMDC’s Marange resources. Mr Tichivangana worked as General Manager at Muriel Mine (2008 - 2010), Mgaka Gold Mines in Tanzania (2010 – 2011) and Metallurgical Consultant for various mining related projects. He also served as a board member for the Zimbabwe School of Mines and served on its Academic Committee for the period 2015 to 2017. He is currently serving as a lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe - Department of Metallurgical Engineering. He has supervised three award winning students including the 2017 winner of the National Engineering and Science Achievement Competition on Innovation.
