Dr. Eng. M. Manyuchi

Dr.Eng. Mercy Manyuchi is the Director in the Mines and Mining Development (MMMD) where she is responsible for mining research, value addition and beneficiation. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Stellenbosch University, South Africa and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe. Prior to joining the MMMD, she also served as the Head of the Chemical and Process Systems Engineering Department at the Harare Institute of Technology. Furthermore, she was responsible for conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs); environmental management plans (EMPs) and quarterly reports for mining companies under HIT Enviro. Dr. Eng. Manyuchi also served as a Research Assistant for the Sasol Waste Products to Value Added Products Research Centre and Stellenbosch University, South Africa. She also did her graduate traineeship at ZimChem, a coal tar to chemical company. Dr. Manyuchi is a Professional Chemical Engineer with membership to the Engineering Council of South Africa, South Africa Institute of Chemical Engineers, Engineering Council of Zimbabwe, and the Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers where she is the Chief Editor for the Zimbabwe Engineer Magazine and is also the Deputy Chairperson for the Zimbabwe Women in Engineering Chapter. She is also a member to the World Federation of Engineering Organizations where she represents Zimbabwe in the Women in Engineering and the Innovation Committees.
